In 1999, while an instructor in Plastic Arts at the College JB de la
Salle (Lyon), Beatrice Ayrolles-Frezal accompanied her husband to Toronto,
Canada, with their two young children. They stayed there four years, time
for Beatrice to strengthen her artistic techniques and have a group exhibition
at the Toronto Art School. In January 2003, with a third child, the family
moved again, to Thailand this time, for 3 years. That was a revelation
for Beatrice, who set up a studio and started painting by herself. Ultimately,
she had an exhibition at the Rotonda Gallery (British Club), called “Visions
Rapprochées”. Inspired by the colors, the light, the culture
of Thailand and Buddhism, her painting, situated between realism and abstraction,
reflects her artistic sensibility. On a foundation of acrylic, thick medium
of wax and gold leaf, her pictures, mostly in large format, show us a
perspective of Thailand, using details as a point of departure for the
work.
In February 2006, the Frezal family, formerly from Lyon, moved again,
with four children, back to France, but this time in Rouen. Full of energy,
Beatrice is preparing a new exhibition in 2007.
